China Cargo Airlines has engaged Lufthansa Technik to maintain components for a fleet of Boeing 747-400 freighters.

LHT says the five-year agreement includes pool access and represents its first “major collaboration” with China Cargo Airlines.

The deal is also LHT’s “first [total component support] contract with a direct service provision to a Chinese customer”, the MRO provider adds.

China Cargo Airlines vice-president Ji Shuhu states that the carrier “can obtain more professional and stronger support from Lufthansa Technik”, and that the airline foresees “further co-operation… in many fields”.

LHT vice-president corporate sales Asia Pacific Gerald Steinhoff meanwhile indicates that the two companies will expand their co-operation “in the nearest future”.

Cirium fleets data shows that China Cargo Airlines has three 747-400 and six 777-200 freighters.
