Polish flag carrier LOT has selected UK-based Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) to provide airframe maintenance for its order of eight Boeing 787 aircraft.

The Luton-based maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company will establish a facility in Warsaw, while also supporting the aircraft at the carrier's various destinations.

LOT has ordered eight Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-A-powered 787s and has an option for an additional unit, with deliveries due to begin in November.

MAEL says that LOT selected the MRO firm as its "primary" contractor for airframe maintenance.
