Lufthansa has issued a request for proposals to JOLCO equity providers for a proposed refinancing of one Airbus A350 and five A320neos via Japanese operating leases with call options, FlightGlobal understands.

Once the German legacy carrier has selected the equity provider, it will then look to mandate the commercial debt portion of the deal, a source indicates.

All of the aircraft were delivered in 2016, says a source. Lufthansa typically finances new deliveries itself before refinancing the aircraft assets later.

Lufthansa had not responded to a request for comment.
