Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) is seeking to expand its operations by building a second MRO base at another major airport in the country.

The company tells FlightGlobal that it needs a new facility due to the limited space to expand at its existing facility in Manila.

"The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is restricted in terms of flights and space. At the same time, flights at other airports in the Philippines are growing," it adds.

Local media reports claim that the additional facility could be built at Cebu, Clark or Davao, but LTP says that discussions are only at a preliminary stage, and it is still studying different options.

Its Manila facility occupies a 200,000m2 of land with three hangers, providing line and heavy maintenance services for a range of clients. The company's website shows that it also has offices in Cebu, Clark and Davao.

LTP is a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and local logistics group MacroAsia.
