German flag-carrier Lufthansa is planning to overhaul the cabin of its European fleet and introduce a new service concept later this year.

The change, designated 'Neue Europa Kabine', will be brought in from late 2010 as part of the airline's 'Climb 2011' restructuring initiative.

Lufthansa briefly alluded to the overhaul during an investors' presentation today, but the airline is not giving many details beyond stating that it will feature a modified cabin layout.

"This will be launched later this year," says a spokesman for Lufthansa.

"It will be a comprehensive revamp of our continental fleet including new seats and a new in-flight service concept.

"It will mean, for sure, more comfort and service in economy-class, as well as strengthening our premium-carrier approach."
