Defunct US all-premium carrier Maxjet Airways has scrapped a proposed takeover of the airline's assets, heaping further uncertainty on its efforts to relaunch services.

Investors connected with transport consultancy NCA Sports Group had set up a company to acquire all of the airline's assets. NCA had been intending to restart the airline as a charter carrier, named NCA Maxjet, using two Boeing 767-200s.

But in a communication to the US FAA's flight standards department, Maxjet Airways vice-president of finance Joe Marotta says this asset purchase agreement has been "terminated".

Maxjet Airways has also withdrawn related applications to the US Department of Transportation seeking approval for the asset purchase, transfer of certificates, and the early resumption of services.
