MC Aviation Partners (MCAP) has requested the deregistration of five Boeing 737-800s leased to Jet Airways, making it the second lessor to move to repossess their aircraft from the cash-strapped carrier.

Records from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) show that entities controlled by MCAP filed deregistration requests for the jets – MSNs 39059, 39060, 39063, 39067 and 39068 – on 4 April.

Cirium’s Fleets Analyzer shows that all five aircraft are stored in a range of locations across India. They appear to be the only aircraft that MCAP leases to Jet Airways.

The requests were filed the day after Avolon made a similar filing to take back two of its 737-800s from the carrier.

Guidelines from the DGCA show that it has five business days to process the deregistration request, assuming all other interests in the aircraft are satisfied. After that, the aircraft are likely to be exported from India under another country’s registration.
