French investigators have been unable to draw initial conclusions about the West Caribbean Airways Boeing MD-82 crash in Venezuela because of poor quality sections of data from the cockpit-voice and flight-data recorders.

Investigation agency Bureau d’Enquetes et d’Analyses has finished extracting the CVR and FDR data, but the reasons for the 16 August accident are still unclear.

Following the apparent loss of power in both engines, the MD-82 crashed, with the loss of all passengers and crew on board, while en route between Panama and Martinique.
