The Middle East Business Aviation Association (MEBAA) will promote the industry's logistical support for the United Nations World Food Programme at the 4th Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference.
The event - backed by the governments of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jordan, the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the Flight Safety Foundation and a number of national and international aviation authorities - will look at how aviation can help eradicate world hunger. The conference - to be held in Jordan from 9-11 October - has become a landmark event in the aviation industry.
It offers a platform to debate, discuss and exchange information and experiences on programmes and projects related to aircraft certification, maintenance, operations, training, and aviation safety - all issues that the MEBAA gets involved in on behalf of its members, and which affect humanitarian efforts.
The conference will help provide civil aviation authorities and service providers and the various aviation sectors with data and tools on hazard identification and risk management processes. It will also look at decisive industry initiatives that address air operations, safety and security concerns.
"Business aviation is not generally associated with its humanitarian efforts, as it goes about playing a silent but incredibly significant role," says Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi, founding chairman of the MEBAA. "Our members' planes can often provide the fastest way to deliver humanitarian assistance during emergencies caused either by man-made or natural disasters. Coupled with this is the importance of aviation safety in order to avoid any accidents that may add further stress to what may already be considered as volatile situations," he adds.
