Turkish maintenance provider MNG Technic has moved into a new, significantly larger hangar at Istanbul's Ataturk International airport, with the previous one due to be handed over to Onur Air.

The company began operations in the new facility this week after it was completed in mid-January. At 25,000m² (269,000ft²), the maintenance hangar is approximately four times larger than its predecessor. It can accommodate up to 16 narrowbody aircraft or four widebodies in combination with up to eight narrowbodies.

The building includes a separate 5,000m² paint bay as well as workshops, storage and office area. In total, the facility offers 60,000m² of work space.

Almost all of the company's operations were moved into the new facility at the end of January. The previous 5,000m² hangar at Ataturk airport is soon to be handed over to Onur Air. According to a source at MNG, the Turkish charter carrier will use the facility for light checks and is considering offering third-party maintenance services in future.
