Flight International online news 12:00GMT:Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines have launched an expansion plan to quadruple the size of their Airfoil Services (AASB) airliner maintenance venture in Malaysia by 2010.

AASB specialises in the repair of aero engine blades for MTU's maintenance business and Lufthansa Technik and has sales of $5 million.

The company is to build a new shop and is to service high-pressure compressor blades for the first time and extend the range of engines it covers to include the GE Aero Engines CF34 and CF6, International Aero Engines V2500 and CFM International CFM56.

The Kuala Lumpur business will increase its workforce from 130 to 500.
