Bombardier’s Learjet 85 is making its debut at NBAA where the airframer is insisting that it is business as usual for midsize twinjet’s certification programme.

“We flew the aircraft for the first time in April and it has made 60 flights so far,” says Bombardier Business Aircraft president, Eric Martel. “The aircraft flies beautifully and there are no changes planned,” he adds

Martel would not disclose the certification timetable for the Learjet 85, which was launched in 2007 and was scheduled for service entry in 2013.

He says the company’s priority is bringing the ultra-long-range Global 7000 and 8000 to market by 2016 and 2017 respectively. “This sector of the business aviation market is booming,” says Martel. In contrast, the midsize segment remains fragile.
