Piaggio Aero has clinched the highly conveted Chinese validation for its P.180 Avanti and Avanti II, paving the way for the twin engine turboprop to begin commercial operations throughout the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong.

"Piaggio Aero has developed a strong working relationship with Chinese aviation authority the CAAC, and we are satisfied to have achieved the certification on schedule," said Piaggio Aero general manager Eligio Trombetta this morning.

"After Brazilian and Russian certification - obtained last year - and the Indian certification gained two years ago, receiving the type certificate validation for China allows Piaggio Aero to continue our international expansion into the BRIC [Brazil, Russia, India and China] countries."
