British Airways' all-premium transatlantic carrier OpenSkies is to suspend its Amsterdam-New York service next month.
The route - one of two served by the carrier, other other being Paris-New York - will be halted on 16 August.
OpenSkies insists the suspension is "temporary". Chief Dale Moss says: "The current economic situation has resulted in a significant decrease in demand for business-class flights."
He says OpenSkies has increased its market share but that this is nevertheless "insufficient" to maintain a profitable service.
OpenSkies, which uses a fleet of four Boeing 757-200s, is to concentrate on its Paris-New York route. It says it has attracted a "loyal customer group" for this service.
British Airways has initiated efforts to find an investor for the carrier, which began services last year.
