Over half of A330 output next year to be A330neos

Airbus is expecting more than half of its A330 deliveries next year will be re-engined A330neo twinjets.

Entry into service of the A330neo is scheduled to take place around mid-2018 with the initial delivery of an A330-900 to TAP Portugal.

The airframer's chief financial officer, Harald Wilhelm, says that it expects 60 A330 deliveries this year, with the "vast majority" comprising the baseline version fitted with previous powerplants.

But he says that the share is "certainly going up" with ramped-up A330neo production and he expects "in excess" of 50% of 2019 deliveries will feature the re-engined jet.

Airbus is cutting A330 production next year to around 50 deliveries. The airframer has 303 A330s in its backlog, of which 70% are A330neos.
