Cayman Airways has rolled out a new livery, and unveiled plans to add a third Boeing 737-300.

The new livery, part of a larger brand enhancement campaign at the Grand Cayman-based operator, features the Cayman Islands’ flag and coat of arms on the aircraft’s tail, while the carrier’s “Sir Turtle” character is painted on the forward fuselage.

“We wanted to enhance Sir Turtle and his role and we needed to anchor our aircraft with something which identified our fleet anywhere it was seen, with the Cayman Islands,” says Cayman Airways chair Angelyn Hernandez in a statement.

“We needed to demonstrate that we are a proud and bold country. We believe that the design of the coat of arms flying high on our tail with all the glorious colours is such a representation.”

A single 737-300 has been painted in the new design. Other aircraft in the fleet will be painted during scheduled C-checks.

The carrier plans to add a third, leased 737-300 to the fleet in the first quarter. This will replace one of the airline’s two 737-200s; it also operates a 737-200s  combi and two Twin Otter aircraft in passenger service.

Also as part of the brand campaign, Cayman Airways’ stationary, business cards, ticket counters, web-site, advertisements, vehicles and signage will be gradually updated according to replenishment needs.

“Cayman Airways continues to improve its operations. We are working towards a more efficient and effective airline,” says CEO Patrick Strasburger.
