Embraer has released images of its all-electric aircraft technology demonstrator, which it is developing in partnership with Brazilian electronics firm WEG.

The companies signed a scientific and technological co-operation agreement on 29 May to jointly develop new products and solutions to enable electric propulsion in aircraft.

The testbed – an adapted EMB-203 Ipanema crop duster – is "ready to receive systems and components", says Embraer and is expected to make its first flight in 2020.

WEG will supply the electric motor and controller, while the cooling system will be provided by UK engineering company Parker. Embraer says the technical teams will continue to test the systems in the laboratory "over the coming months", in preparation for their integration into the demonstrator for testing under "real operating conditions".
