Royal Jordanian Airlines has finish the first cabin modernisation of its Airbus A340 fleet, a programme aimed at extending the type's service life until the carrier's Boeing 787s arrive.
It has replaced the 229 economy-class seats on the aircraft with those featuring an in-flight entertainment system from Zodiac Aerospace unit Sicma Aero Seat.
The 24 business-class seats have also been modified to accommodate the touch-screen Seat Integrated Technology product which includes audio- and video-on-demand services.
Royal Jordanian is starting modification of a second A340 today and expects all four of the jets in its fleet to be renovated by mid-December.

The carrier uses the type on routes to North American destinations including New York, Chicago, Detroit and Montreal.
Royal Jordanian chief Hussein Dabbas says the updated A340s will continue to operate these services until the airline starts introducing its 11 787s from the end of 2013.
