The Airbus A330-200 Freighter has taken off from Toulouse on its maiden flight. The aircraft departed at 10.05 this morning, on what is expected to be a 3-4h flight.

The Pratt & Whitney PW4000-powered twinjet (F-WWYE, MSN1004) is the first example of Airbus’s all-new widebody freighter. The 64t payload freighter variant, which is also offered with Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, is due for certification by March next year, after a 180h flight-test programme.

First delivery, to launch customer Etihad Airways, is due in August.

Airbus holds orders for 67 aircraft from nine customers. Additionally Turkish Airlines has recently signed a memorandum of understanding for two A330-200Fs.
