Australia's GippsAero has selected the 715shp (533 kW) Rolls-Royce M250-B17F-2 to power its GA10 Airvan single-engine turboprop, which is under development.
The high-wing, 10-seat aircraft is based on its smaller GA8 piston engine stablemate, which is in service worldwide with commercial, special mission and utility operators, including UK-headquartered Christian organisation, Mission Aviation Fellowship.
Victoria-based GippsAero - owned by India's Mahindra Aerospace - is aiming to fly a prototype GA10 later this year, leading to certification and first deliveries in 2013.
The manufacturer expects sales of the $1.3 million GA-10 to reach 20 a year in India, Europe and Asia.
GippsAero is developing an upgraded, re-engineered version of the GAF N24 Nomad twin-engine turboprop.
The 18-seat G18 - which will have new engines and propellers, a glass cockpit and weight-saving features - is earmarked for first flight and certification in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
