Russian state corporation Rostec’s Technodinamika arm is to establish a new aircraft and engine maintenance centre in co-operation with Italian firm Atitech.
The new centre will be established within two years, says Rostec, and offer services to both domestic and foreign operators.
While the centre is to be located in the Moscow region, the joint-venture partners are still considering “several” prospective sites, it adds.
Types to be serviced by the joint maintenance operation include the Irkut MC-21, Sukhoi Superjet 100 and aircraft produced by Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier.
It will be an “important link” in the after-market operation for the MC-21, says Rostec chief Sergei Chemezov.
He refers to the strength of economic and business co-operation between Russia and Italy – the two sides were partners in the creation of the Superjet.
Technodinamika has gained experience in the maintenance sector and Atitech will be able to reinforce its presence in the market and the Moscow region. Atitech will train Russian specialists at its Naples facility.
