UK leisure airline Jet 2 is starting twice-weekly flights from Manchester to Krakow on 28 April.

Managing director Ian Doubtfire confirmed the service's imminent launch to Flightglobal on 25 April, during the Routes Europe conference being held in the Polish city.

The carrier will begin taking delivery of 30 new Boeing 737-800s from September. These will be deployed across its seven bases: Leeds Bradford, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester and East Midlands.

Flightglobal's Innovata schedules show that competition on the Manchester-Krakow route will come from Ryanair, which operates thrice weekly between the cities.
