ROUTES: KLIA to provide inter-terminal connections

Malaysia Airports will soon introduce busses between Kuala Lumpur International airport's two passenger terminals, in an effort to better facilitate passenger connections.

Speaking to FlightGlobal at Routes Asia in Okinawa, Malaysia Airports' general manager of marketing Mohamed Sallauddin says that services are likely to start in within the next couple of months.

“We have studied that passenger flying patterns are flexible. Some would connect between low-cost carriers and full-service carriers, instead of just flying on one type of airline,” he adds.

The bus between the terminals is not viewed as a long-term solution however, with the operator encouraging airlines to establish their own interline relationships and “self-generate demand for connectivity.”

In November last year, the Malaysian Aviation Commission’s announced that it will work towards a gradually equalising charges at the two passenger terminals, following a dispute over different charges sparked off by Malaysia Airlines.
