Russia's defence ministry has signed an order with United Aircraft for the delivery of six Be-200 jet amphibian aircraft, with the deal worth $270 million, Beriev announced on 24 May.

Two of the aircraft will be handed over in the Russian emergencies ministry-specification Be-200ChS model, with the remaining four to be Be-200PS examples without firefighting equipment.

An additional contract for eight more of the aircraft is expected be signed in the near future, Beriev says.

The emergencies ministry already operates five Be-200s. The Russian navy has previously said that it wants to acquire four of the type for search and rescue applications.
