Ryanair is evaluating where to add maintenance capacity as its fleet expands.
The Irish low-cost carrier is negotiating with several European airports and authorities with a view to boosting its MRO scale, a source familiar with the project has told Flightglobal.
For airframe maintenance, Ryanair uses hangars at Glasgow Prestwick airport in the UK, Hahn in Germany and Kaunas in Lithuania. These facilities are exclusively assigned to support of the carrier's Boeing 737 fleet and have been set up as separate entities with support from local authorities.
The Dublin-headquartered airline plans to expand its MRO capacity by more than a single maintenance bay, the source says.
Ryanair says it "does not comment upon or engage in rumour or speculation".
Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows that the carrier operates 311 737-800s and has orders for another 171, plus up to 200 737 Max jets.
