Irish budget carrier Ryanair is to allow customers to use PayPal accounts to pay for tickets.
Ryanair marketing chief Kenny Jacobs says partnership with the online payment service provider is "the latest element of our 'Always Getting Better' programme" and notes: "Millions of European consumers use PayPal on a daily basis." PayPal says it has 152 million active accounts.
As part of efforts to remake Ryanair's image, the carrier has introduced a range of service enhancements including allocated seating, a new app and website, mobile boarding passes, a 24h grace period for corrections to booking details, reductions in airport bag fees and boarding-card reissue fees, an increased baggage allowance, "quiet flights", and a "Ryanair Family Extra" product.
A product aimed at business travellers is to be rolled out in the "coming weeks", says the airline. This will allow passengers to book flexible tickets and avail of priority allocated seating and fast-track security at select airports.
