Russian MRO provider S7 Engineering is to open a second engine shop by year-end.

The facility will support CFM International CFM56-5Bs and -7Bs – which power Airbus A320-family types and Boeing 737s, respectively – and be located at S7 Engineering's Mineralnye Vody site in southern Russia, says commercial director Roman Fedorov.

In partnership with Swiss MRO provider SR Technics, Moscow-based S7 Engineering last year opened an EASA-certificated facility at the Russian capital's Domodedovo airport to provide on-wing services for CFM56s.

Since then, 46 engine repairs have been performed at the site. But Fedorov believes large unmet demand for such services from domestic airlines – including Aeroflot and Rossiya – is "still out there".
