Russia's S7 Engineering has opened an engine repair shop in Moscow in partnership with SR Technics.
The facility at Moscow's Domodedovo airport will provide on-wing services for CFM international CFM56-5B and -7B engines which power Airbus A320-family types and current-generation Boeing 737s, respectively.
S7 Engineering finance director Roman Fedorov says that the opening of the EASA-certificated shop "represents a major step in our strategy of expanding MRO capabilities".
He estimates the value of the engine maintenance market in the CIS region – largely deriving from CFM56-powered A320s and 737s – at $600 million.
The newly opened facility has capacity to service up to 24 engines a year.
