European Commission regulators have yet to be notified about any potential state assistance to embattled Scandinavian airline company SAS Group.
SAS Group has been finalising discussions over future financing, prompting the company to delay releasing its third-quarter results.
The company is partly owned by the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish governments but it is unclear whether the states plan to contribute financial support to SAS, possibly through loan guarantees.
State aid must be notified to, and approved by, the Commission, which has tight rules on the extent of permissible governmental support to airlines.
A spokesman for the Commission says: "There have been informal contacts between the Commission and the Scandinavian governments concerned, which started this week."
But he adds that the Commission has not yet received formal notification of any intended state support for SAS.
"Once we receive notification we will examine what these governments want to do," he says, adding there has been no indication on possible timing.
