Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre (SHPBASC) has received Part 145 certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration as an overseas repair station.

The certification by the FAA is the first for a dedicated business aviation maintenance facility in China, says the company. It completed an on-site audit in mid-January and received its formal approval on 7 February.

“This certification marks the culmination of a sustained and persistent effort by the company to provide a strong foundation for business aviation in China. There are a number of N-registered aircraft that are based in Asia [that] are regular clients of our facility,” says general manager for SHPBASC Carey Matthews.

SHPBASC is a joint venture between Shanghai Airport Authority, the operator of Shanghai’s Hongqiao and Pudong airports, and Hawker Pacific. The 4,000m² (43,000ft²)  maintenance facility is based in Hongqiao airport, adjacent to Shanghai Hawker Pacific’s fixed based operations.
