The Saudi Arabian government has become the launch customer for the Sikorsky S-434 light helicopter following delivery of two of the turbine-powered rotorcraft to the ministry of the interior. A further seven of the types are scheduled for delivery to the ministry over the coming months. The S-434 is a development of the S-333, formerly the Schweizer 333, incorporating technology developed for the Fire Scout unmanned air vehicle. The S-434 introduces a four-blade rotor, an increased gross weight of 1,315kg (2,900lb), higher maximum cruise speed of 105kt (195km/h), improved hover performance and longer endurance of 4h.
