Singapore Airlines (SIA) has awarded contracts for suppliers for its incoming fleet of new Airbus A350s.
The airline chose Thales to provide the in-flight entertainment system and Ka-band connectivity. "This is an important announcement for Thales because of the reputation Singapore Airlines has across the world for its excellence in cabin experience and passenger comfort," says Thales chief executive Patrice Caine.
Separately, SIA signed a 12-year deal with Moog for support of the OEM's flight control products on the airline's A350s. The agreement will cover maintenance and inventory support and will give SIA access to spares worldwide.
Mark Brooks, Moog's general manager for commercial aircraft services, says: "This contract will give Singapore Airlines the maximum in flexibility and financial security while maintaining the strong engineering connections that have existed between Moog and Singapore Airlines Group for many years."
UTC Aerospace Systems was also awarded a 12-year deal by the carrier to supply asset management and repair services for the A350s.
SIA has 67 A350-900s on order, and will take delivery of its first one shortly.
