Star Alliance has named Mark Schwab as its new chief executive, succeeding Jaan Albrecht.
Schwab was previously senior vice-president alliances at United Airlines, a Star Alliance member.
In addition, he served as a member of the alliance's management board.
He succeeds Albrecht, who was appointed chief executive of Austrian Airlines on 1 November.
