Three flight recorders have been retrieved from the wreckage of the Antonov An-148 jet which crashed on a test flight in Russia yesterday.

Russia's judicial Investigative Committee states that it is examining whether there is cause to pursue a criminal inquiry following the fatal accident south of Voronezh.

It says that three recorders have been taken from the crash site and assigned to appropriate specialists. It is unclear how many recorders the An-148, which was still being flight-tested by airframer VASO, was carrying.

"[We are] conducting an investigation to establish all the circumstances of the crash," says the committee. "We are considering all possibilities including a technical fault in the aircraft."
