UK regional carrier Eastern Airways is adding another pair of Saab 2000 turboprops, taking its total of the type to six.

It has already taken delivery of the fifth and has signed a lease agreement for another.

Humberside-based Eastern’s chief operating officer Chris Holliday says the type is "ideal" for expanding its scheduled network into continental Europe.

Eastern operates services across a network of 16 UK airports plus Brussels and Stavanger. The carrier’s fleet also includes 23 British Aerospace Jetstream 41s.
