GMR Aero Technic has received approval by the US Federal Aviation Administration to conduct work on Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s, up to C-checks and non-destructive testing inspections.

The MRO provider says it holds the largest market share for outsourced airframe base maintenance business in India, and that the FAA approval "opens up new opportunities" for the company by being the sole MRO in south Asia to be FAA-certified.

GMR Aero Technic currently has approvals from India, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, the Cayman Islands, as well as from the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The company adds that it is currently developing MRO capabilities for widebody aircraft and the 737 MAX.

Besides base maintenance, GMR Aero Technic offers line maintenance services, as well as component support and cabin interiors work. It can handle narrowbodies, as well as Bombardier Q400 and ATR turborpops.
