UTair and Transaero have agreed a strategic partnership under which they are to co-operate to build networks, share fares and merge frequent-flyer programmes.

The two Russian airlines plan to "leverage" and "develop" their respective networks from Moscow's Vnukovo International airport.

They will also share information on "modern best-practice standards and advanced business technologies", and foresee forging interline and revenue-sharing agreements.

There are also plans for the carriers to synchronise flight schedules and frequencies to "achieve the most convenient flight connections" at the airports from which both operate.
