Boeing has completed first flights of the 787 and 747-8F scheduled for delivery this year, readying the two new types for handover later this month.
The first 747-8F for Cargolux, designated RC502 and registered LX-VCB, completed its B1 production first flight on 31 August.
All Nippon Airways' first 787, designated ZA101 and registered JA801A, completed its maiden sortie on 1 September.
Both flights departed from Paine Field at Boeing's Everett, Washington facility where each aircraft was assembled.
Boeing has not yet set a date for the handover of its 747-8F, the 7 September tentative date appears to have shifted to later in the month. Delivery of the first 787 to ANA is planned for 25 September, with a formal handover ceremony scheduled the next day.
The 787 earned Japan Civil Aviation Bureau certification on 30 August, clearing the final regulatory hurdle for the type to operate in revenue service, which is expected to begin 1 November on Japanese domestic routes between Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Okayama and Hiroshima.
Cargolux has not yet set a date for the jumbo freighter's service entry, but the carrier gained European Aviation Safety Agency approval for an amended type certificate awarded on 19 August.
