Flightglobal.com has obtained a video graphic showing how a near miss occured on Wednesday 11 July between one aircraft taking off and another landing.

Two commercial airplanes carrying a total of 300 passengers came within 100 feet of colliding on a runway at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport this week, prompting an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Air traffic controllers averted the collision between a Delta Air Lines aircraft that was about to land Wednesday afternoon and a United Airlines aircraft on the ground whose pilots mistakenly steered into the path of the Delta plane, said Kathleen Bergen, FAA spokeswoman.
