Vietnam Airlines posted a consolidated pre-tax profit of D3.3 trillion ($143 million) for the first nine months of 2019, which it says is 97.9% of its full-year target.

Revenue for the period ended 30 September came in at D76.7 trillion, says the state-owned carrier, whose results include subsidiaries Jetstar Pacific and VASCO, as well as affiliate Cambodia Angkor Air.

The mainline operator recorded a D2.7 trillion pre-tax profit, which was up by 52.8%, and D57.4 trillion in revenues.

During the period, Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and VASCO ferried more than 21.4 million passengers collectively, representing a 3.2% increase year-on-year. It also took delivery of 10 Airbus A321neos and two Boeing 787-10s.

For the rest of 2019, the airline expects to receive four A321neos and one 787-10.

Cirium's fleets data shows that Vietnam Airlines now operates 100 aircraft, comprising of five ATR 72s flown by its VASCO subsidiary, 67 A321ceos and neos, 14 A350s, and 14 787-9s and -10s.
