Canada’s Viking Air has appointed business and commercial aviation services provider AeroGeo as its first authorised service centre in Russia.

AeroGeo, based in Krasnoyarsk Kari, Siberia will support Viking’s growing fleet of Twin Otter Series 400s in the region as well as legacy de Havilland types including the earlier DHC-6 variant of the twin turboprop.

Flightglobal's Fleets Analyzer database records six Series 400s in service with AeroGeo, which, according to Viking, will add a further four examples by January.

The company is already a service centre for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-34, which powers the Series 400.

“Over the past six months, AeroGeo has demonstrated an increasing level of dependable Twin Otter maintenance capabilities as Series 400 customer aircraft have started arriving in the Krasnoyarsk Kari region of Russia,” says Viking.

The Sidney, British Columbia-headquartered manufacturer says it has sold 21 Series 400s into Russia since the 19-seat aircraft entered service in 2010. Of the 14 delivered to date, 12 are based in Krasnoyarsk Kari, it adds.

“There are around 600 Twin Otters in service worldwide and we are now in the process of delivering our 90th aircraft,” says Viking; the 100th unit will be shipped early in the fourth quarter.
