The merger of Yemenia and Al Yemeda, the flag carriers of the former north and south Yemen, has gone ahead. The united Yemenia carrier is 49% owned by Saudi Arabian flag carrier Saudia. The Yemens incurred Saudi Arabian wrath by declining to support the allies in the war against Iraq. Saudia is also to resume flights to the Yemeni capital Sana'a after a five-year suspension.
