Taurus Systems has completed a series of test runs of the 1,500lb thrust (6.67kN) Williams turbojet destined for its KEPD 350 modular stand-off missile. The weapon is being developed for German air force Tornados and Eurofighters and is being offered to other NATO countries, although the UK and Italy have selected the rival Matra BAe Storm Shadow. The KEPD350 development programme is due to be completed by early 2002. Taurus Systems is a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler Aerospace missiles subsidiary LFK and Celsius/ Bofors Missiles of Sweden. The smaller KEPD 150 is being developed for the Saab JAS39 Gripen.
