Wire harnesses and loads can be protected from fire caused by electrical shorts and insulation failures with Ametek's new solid-state power controller (SSPC).

Offering better load protection than a circuit-breaker in a small, cost-effective plug-in component, the SSPC can control loads of up to 10A at 28V DC. It can be used either directly in an application circuit or built into a power-distribution system by combining it with other SSPC components developed by Ametek parent company Amphion (Hall 3, Stand C11).

Featuring a fully adjustable time-versus-current trip, the programmable controller offers integrated current and voltage monitoring and can detect and trip in response to intermittent arcs produced by wire insulation failure. Patented circuitry monitors system load and health, helping to ensure that critical loads cannot continue uncontrolled and unprotected.
