Northwest Airlines has accelerated by one year the delivery of five Boeing 757-200s and five Airbus A319/A320 aircraft from 2002 to allow for early retirement of its Boeing 727-200s.

The 727s will now be retired in the middle of next year instead of mid-2002. The five Pratt & Whitney PW2037-powered 757s will arrive between June and October 2001. Three A319s and two A320s, all powered by CFM International CFM56 turbofans, will be accepted by December 2001.

• Denver-based Frontier Airlines has advanced by four months the delivery date of the first of 11 A318/A319s. The narrowbody aircraft will arrive next May. A month later, Frontier will take delivery of the first of 15 A319s leased from GE Capital Aviation Services. The US carrier plans to phase out its leased Boeing 737s by 2004.
