British, French, German and Italian defence ministers are to launch a new European arms procurement agency at Farnborough '98 on Wednesday.
British Defence Secretary George Robertson says a highlight of his visit will be the signing of the agreement establishing the new joint European armaments agency, OCCAR.
"This is a further step towards the rationalisation of European procurement and will in time bring benefits to the UK in terms of collaborative projects," says Robertson. "This will be followed by a working lunch at which I expect to discuss progress towards the rationalisation of the European aerospace industry.
