Budget carrier Flydubai has finalised a commitment for 175 Boeing 737 Max aircraft first announced at the 2017 Dubai air show, the largest single-aisle jet order in Middle East history.

The order, which is for 737 Max 8s, -9s, and -10s and includes options for an additional 50 jets, is valued at $27 billion at current list prices.

"This is our largest order in our eight-year history and our third order with Boeing whose aircraft have given us the ability to carry 44 million passengers since we began operations," says Ghaith Al Ghaith, cheif executive of Flydubai in a statement. "With up to 296 aircraft on order, we have become one of the world's top ten airlines in terms of order backlog and we look forward to continuing to enhance the connectivity of Dubai's aviation hub."

Flydubai, which already operates 55 737-800s, took delivery of its first two Max 8s over the summer.

Including this purchase agreement, Boeing has a backlog for over 4,200 Max aircraft.
