Air Seychelles has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320 in a ceremony held at Mahe International airport.

The A320 is configured with 16 business class and 120 economy class seats, and is wet-leased to the airline from 40% shareholder Etihad Airways.

“Our new Airbus A320 will be used to launch three new routes, including Mumbai, Dar es Salaam and Antananarivo, representing the fastest rate of expansion our airline has ever seen,” says chief executive Manoj Papa.

The carrier will also use the aircraft to lift its services to Abu Dhabi from seven to nine per week, and will also make adjustments to its Mauritius and Johannesburg schedules.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that Air Seychelles also has two A330-200s in its fleet, which are also operated by Etihad.

Air Seychelles also operates six de Havilland/Viking Air Twin Otters, and one Shorts 360 freighter.
