Sherpa Aircraft president Glen Gordon says the Scappoose, Oregon-based company is ready to begin producing its $845,000 K650T Sherpa utility aircraft for customers with unique hauling applications. The first two Honeywell TPE 331-5-powered aircraft are being built for a gold ore hauling operation in Alaska.

One aircraft will be equipped with known icing protection, radar, a full instrument panel and FLIR night vision system and diamond plate cargo floor. The other Sherpa will be used for passenger and cargo delivery. First delivery is scheduled for spring 2011. Gordon, who says each aircraft will take nine months to build, jokes that he’s offering a $500 discount for new orders taken at AirVenture 2010.
