I am surprised by the assertion of IATA's Gunther Matschnigg (Open for Business, Airline Business, August page 57) that civilian aircraft over-flying Iraq would be "well out of harm's way".

With respect, with the US military there is no such thing as "out of harm's way". Surely after 11 September 2001, IATA would have been the organisation most likely to employ a little imagination in its safety and security planning?
